About VisCHI
VisCHI (Visual Storytelling in Computer-Human Interaction) is an emerging research initiative and workshop series that reimagines the role of visual narratives in human-computer interaction scholarship. Founded in 2025, VisCHI positions comics, sequential art, and visual storytelling not merely as communication tools, but as legitimate epistemological instruments capable of generating knowledge that text-based research alone cannot capture.
Mission
VisCHI challenges the text-centric traditions of HCI research by advocating for visual methods—particularly comics and sequential art—as first-class research outputs. We believe that embodied, temporal, emotional, and culturally-situated knowledge often requires visual expression to be fully understood and shared.
